MXF Import
Create MXF files with various Essence formats:
o D10(IMX), DVCPro25/50, DVCam, AVI, MPEG-1/2 Audio and Video, MPEG PS and TS, Wave/BWF, AES3 (S302M and S331M, PCM and Dolby-E).
theScribe detects the Essence format during file creation and automatically generates technical metadata to be included in the MXF file.
theScribe includes a MXF Import Wizard that eases the creation of common MXF file formats, including SONY XDCAM/e-VTR and Panasonic P2.
MXF Export
The Export wizard provides a simple mechanism to unwrap essence and metadata from your MXF files, outputting formats like AVI, Wave and XML, which can be used in non-MXF workflows.
theScribe automatically detects the different essence types existing in MXF files and configures the export wizard with different export options for multiplexed or non-multiplexed essence and related metadata.
MXF PartialRestore
The MXF PartialRestore functionality enables the creation of sub MXF Clips from the original material.
MXF PartialRestore is also integrated with metadata annotation, enabling direct Scene cuts to be performed on MXF files.
MXF Playout
theScribe includes a new player object, with frame accurate Timecode display, that enables playback of MXF files from different essence formats and Operational Patterns.
Please note that some essence types require appropriate external Microsoft DirectShow decoders. Please check our codec page for more information
MXF Metadata Update
The metadata from existing files is updated efficiently regardless of the file size, and without having to recreate the MXF file.
DMS-1 Compliance
theScribe is compliant with MXF Descriptive Metadata Scheme 1 (SMPTE S380M) and supports all Metadata:
o DMS-1 Production Framework:
Metadata that describes the Production as a whole without reference to any specific temporal position in the content. You can describe several aspects of the production such as rights information, programme logistics or overall textual descriptions.
o DMS-1 Scene Framework:
Metadata that describes actions and events within individual scenes of the audio-visual content. This is represented graphically in theScribe as a multi-view Storyboard. You can describe such details as the participants in the scenes and their roles, and all this information will be synchronized with the Essence with frame accuracy. This Metadata may then be used to find specific scenes within the content.
o DMS-1 Clip Framework:
Metadata describing capture and creation of the content such as identifying the creator or describing the devices used.
Automatic Local UMID Generation
theScribe generates UMIDs to be included in your MXF files automatically as needed.
The UMIDs are generated locally on your machine, that is, no need to contact any registration authority.
Support for Custom Metadata Schemes
Although you should use DMS-1 to guarantee interoperability, you may want to extend it. Or you may need to add fully customized Metadata to your MXF files. Please contact MOG Solutions for information on how to use such Metadata Schemes with theScribe.
Full MXF Operational Pattern Support
OP[1-3][a-c] and OPAtom
MXF OP conversion
theScribe provides a Operational Pattern (OP) conversion feature to convert between the two most common Operational Patterns: OP1a and OP-Atom.
Multi-version Support
Add different versions of the same Production to the same file. You can decide which Essence is played with which Metadata for each version. Ideal to distribute a multi-language Production.
File History Tracking
Find out who updated the file, when and which tool was used.
Advanced Mode for Metadata Browsing
With the advanced view, you can browse all the MXF file's Metadata, including MXF Structural Metadata, that is, the file's logical structure.
File System Browsing
Configure the file extensions to be used for each essence format.
Printing Support
Print all the Metadata views including any of the different MXF Storyboard views with keyframes.
Plugin-based MXF Device Support
Already ships with SONY e-VTR/XDCAM plugin. The e-VTR/XDCAM devices will look just like a network drive.
SONY XDCAM EDL Conforming
theScribe includes a new tool that enables the creation of frame-accurate High-resolution MXF Clips from EDLs generated with SONY PDZ-1 software.
