NEW YORK – April 14, 2008 – MOG Solutions has been selected to provide TOBOGGAN to NBC during the network’s coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, August 8-24. The announcement was made by David Mazza, Senior Vice President, Engineering, NBC Olympics and Ernesto Santos, Marketing & Sales Manager, MOG Solutions.
MOG Solutions will demonstrate at NAB 2008 the new version of TOBOGGAN, packed with the new features developed according to the requirements of NBC. The new TOBOGGAN will operate at the core of NBC’s New Media based coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games.
The announcement in the Summer of 2007 of MOG Solutions’ selection to provide such a key system for NBC’s coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was followed by a record time development of ground breaking MXF technology. This resulted in a new version of TOBOGGAN, enhanced using a SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) approach, turning it into a fully networked system. The new TOBOGGAN is highly optimized in order to efficiently process both SD and HD content made available from Omneon MediaGrid™, and interface it with AVID Interplay™, AVID Unity ISIS™ and Anystream Velocity™.
TOBOGGAN’s already extensive support of AVID Unity ISIS™ and AVID Interplay™ was greatly enhanced. TOBOGGAN now takes Edit Decision Lists from Blue Order MediaArchive®, and delivers those as Sequences to the AVID Interplay™ environment, including all related metadata and SD or HD material. “With just a few clicks, Users can now go from material selection and story building in a regular web browser, to a full resolution timeline available on their AVID Interplay™ environment, ready for editing” said Ernesto Santos.
TOBOGGAN is also key to the multi-platform distribution workflow. Selected content will be fetched, cut, combined with related metadata, MXF-wrapped and fed into Anystream Velocity™ for further adaptation to multiple distribution channels. “It’s MXF as it was meant to be used. It is really rewarding to be part of such an ambitious project that will for sure become a reference for all those migrating towards file-based workflows” said Ernesto Santos.
David Mazza said: “MOG Solutions was very quick to adapt their software to NBC’s needs for this project. Their ability to handle MXF wrapped content and conform both our SD and HD files plus out metadata was critical to the success of these new file based production workflows.”
The new TOBOGGAN will be showcased at NAB 2008 at MOG Solutions’ booth SU7530, and a free evaluation version will be available for download at MOG Solutions website (www.mog-solutions.com) shortly after NAB.
